Assisted hatching is generally used to help couples who have had one or more unsuccessful IVF cycles in the past. These unsuccessful cycles are frequently the consequence of the embryo failing to implant within the uterus.

If a woman’s next IVF cycle has a poor prognosis, assisted hatching may be advised as a way to improve her chances of a successful pregnancy.

Advantages of Laser-Assisted Hatching

A laser has been found to be better than other types of aided hatching (chemical and manual) for a number of reasons:

• The embryo is handled as little as possible.
• Control over the drilling of the shell opening is quick and precise.
• It is soft and harmless, causing no harm to the embryo.
• Patients have a wide range of options, which are given under clinical supervision depending on their specific circumstances.
