In Vitro Maturation
IVF is a cutting-edge assisted reproduction procedure. In a typical IVF cycle, the woman receives many hormone injections, which results in a greater number of eggs. Only the mature eggs are fertilized with IVF. In an IVM cycle, immature eggs are collected and developed in the lab before being used in IVF.
IVM offers various advantages to IVF, including the fact that it needs less or no medicines.
- It is substantially less expensive.
- It is far more convenient because no regular hospital trips are necessary.
- The lady has substantially less emotional stress and adverse effects.
This approach was created to help PCOS/PCOD patients avoid over-hormonal stimulation and OHSS. However, clinical research has demonstrated that it is effective as part of fertility preservation, oocyte donation, and PGS (Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening) programs in instances with excessively high response to gonadotrophin stimulation or individuals with poor response.
Overall, IVM is a promising procedure that may be used as an alternative to IVF for all infertile individuals who have a large number of antral follicles and are at a high risk of developing OHSS.
Though the procedure is less expensive than traditional IVF, IVM is still a relatively new breakthrough in assisted reproductive medicine in India. Dr. Nimish R Shelat is a pioneer in IVM treatment, and our doctors have successfully treated multiple patients with IVM.
